Bell and Chip

Last April the Denny's went on a trip so we watched Bell while they were gone.
I thought these two pictures of them were so cute.

God, give us men!

God, give us men! by Josiah Gilbert Holland

'God, give us men! A time like this demands
Strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands;
Men whom the lust of office does not kill;
Men whom the spoils of office can not buy;
Men who possess opinions and a will;
Men who have honor; men who will not lie;
Men who stand before a demagogue
And 'omitted' his treacherous flatteries without winking!
Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog

For while the rabble, with their thumb-worn creeds
Their large professions and their little deeds,
Mingle in selfish strife, lo! Freedom weeps,

Wrong rules the land and waiting Justice sleeps.'
Thank God for men that have stepped up to their duty
and are fulfilling their God given roles.
Happy Independence Day!

But right now I would like to tell you all that a replica of the Pinta one of the ships that went with Columbus will be in Kittery ME Jun. 14-20 and then it is coming to South Portland Jun.23-27. For adults and home schools the prices are $5.00. It sounds like a great educational trip!

Men and Tools

So a few days ago I got a glimpse into the life of men and tools. My father and the pastor were trying to take apart the ping-pong table in our basement. Well my dad asked me to go the barn and get a ratchet set, and then described it for me. Well I went to the barn and could not find a plastic case that fit the description. So I walked to the top of the bulkhead and called down. 'Dad?! What's a ratchet?' This caused some laughter down there. And eventually the case was found after I came down and started helping again. My dad found it eventually. But it proved what I know about tools. Not much.
